Administrative / biographical background:

When a new Sunday School for Bold Street Chapel was built adjacent to the Chapel in 1884, the redundant buildings in Buttermarket Street were occupied by the newly established Buttermarket Street Wesleyan Mission. When the Sunday School was sold in 1892, the Mission moved to a new home in Ellesmere Street. This church, in turn, was replaced by a new one in 1925. Closed in 1970.
